Sally  Shalabi

As a professional storyteller, Sally (Shalabieh Al Hakawatieh) has been telling since 2005. Her practice focuses on the oral traditions of the region and its oral heritage, with a strong focus on research. She tells in both Arabic and English to a variety of audiences. She has also coached and trained individuals and organizations on various aspects of storytelling. She has performed in Jordan, Palestine, Egypt, Tunisia, Bahrain, the UAE, Lebanon, Scotland, Germany, Sweden and the US. Shalabi is the recipient of the Arts and Culture grant from The Abdul Hamid Shoman Foundation in 2019 for her project “Hikayat Shalabieh”, and a recipient of the AFAC research grant for her research project “Zaghareed” in 2021.
